Meet the Team

Ann Booth | Accounts Clerk

Ann has been with Shepherd Partnership for more than 30 years. As Accounts Clerk, her role involves the preparation of accounts and tax returns across the Shepherd Partnership’s diverse client base.

In her spare time Ann is a proud mum to her two grown-up children and enjoys nothing more than spending some leisure time in the Lake District.

Pauline Chilton | Payroll

Pauline has been with Shepherd Partnership for more than 17 years, and her role involves processing payroll for clients, and submitting each payroll scheme’s end of year returns.

Her hobbies include photography, bird watching, and travel, especially to Scotland.

Brian Hainsworth | Accounts Consultant

Brian has worked with Shepherd Partnership as a Consultant since 1985. Brian has now been a member of the ICAEW (The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) for more than 50 years, and he received a commemorative certificate from the Institute to mark this anniversary!

Brian’s role includes checking tax returns, reviewing small business accounts, contacting clients regarding their accounts and tax liabilities, and visiting them on a regular basis. Brian looks after his own portfolio of around 35 clients.

In his spare time Brian has a number of hobbies and interests that keep him busy. He’s a church organist and can also play keyboard & piano. He also keeps active by playing table tennis doubles regularly, and he attends weekly French lessons, despite being already fluent in the language. Brian also enjoys visiting his Anglo-French grandchildren in France, and putting his second language to good use!

Paul Hayhoe | Partner, Glencoe Accounting

Through Glencoe Accounting and in association with the Shepherd Partnership, Paul offers specialist accountancy, taxation, and strategic consultancy to the Licensed Trade and Hospitality Industry. Glencoe has been trading since 2009.

Paul is a fellow of The Association of Accounting Technicians. He has over 35 years experience in the hospitality industry, 14 of which was spent as Owner/ Manager of The Reivers Rest Town House Hotel in Langholm. Paul bought the property from receivership in 1990 and sold on as a 4-star hotel in 2004.

In his spare time Paul’s interests include wildlife and landscape photography, travel, and brewing beer.

Gillian Humphrey | Accounts Manager

Gillian is MAAT qualified and also holds a Diploma in Business Studies. She has worked with the Shepherd Partnership on and off for over 27 years. Initially Gillian came to the firm to work as a Typist/Receptionist but progressed into accounts within six months. She admits that she genuinely likes accounts & tax work and is particularly good at working with incomplete records.

Today Gillian has her own portfolio of around 70 clients for whom she prepares accounts and/or tax returns.  In addition she supports her colleagues with their clients, prepares a handful of VAT returns, and is responsible for the daily backup of data and making sure that programmes & systems work correctly.

As a mother of four Gillian does not have much spare time but does enjoy crocheting, card making and watching films to help her relax.

Gordon Kelly | Office Manager

Gordon has worked in the field of accountancy for over 35 years, and has been with the Shepherd Partnership for more than 15 years.

Today, his responsibilities include cataloguing workflow through the office and looking after his own portfolio of clients. Gordon has vast experience in working with agricultural clients and small independent traders, and today he specialises in this area.

In his spare time Gordon enjoys watching various sports and socialising with friends.

Chris Kendrew | Audit and Corporate Clients Accounts Manager

Chris is part qualified (ACCA) and has been with the Shepherd Partnership since 2003. His main responsibilities at the firm include auditing & preparation of statutory accounts for corporate clients, preparation of charity accounts, and auditing solicitors’ accounts rules.

When he’s not at work Chris enjoys all types of sport, and although he no longer plays, he used to play football at quite a high level.

Michael Lonsdale | Accounts Manager

Michael has worked in the field of accountancy since 1978 and joined the Shepherd Partnership in 2004. His role involves the preparation of accounts, the completion of tax returns, and offering general advice and support to clients.

In his spare time Michael is Treasurer at Crosshills FC and a member of the darts and dominos team at the Kings Arms in Sutton. He also enjoys reading – mainly mystery novels – and the odd pint or two!

Amanda Middleton | Receptionist

Amanda has been with Shepherd Partnership since 2007. She has lots of experience in working with the public from all walks of life and has worked in diverse customer-facing roles for a total of 25 years. 

In her role as Receptionist her responsibilities include answering the phone, booking appointments, and greeting clients at the office. She also looks after day-to-day tasks such as visiting the bank, binding client accounts, purchasing the office stationery and supplies for the office, filing, and franking the post. In 2011 Amanda attended a Welcome Host customer service training course.

In her spare time Amanda enjoys travel, particularly holidaying in different countries and enjoying the hot sunny weather. Her interests also extend to good food and wine, music and fashion.

Lyn Nutton | Accounts Clerk

Lyn has worked at the Shepherd Partnership for over 23 years and holds a part AAT qualification. Her role today primarily involves preparing accounts for farming clients.

Lyn has worked in an office environment since she was 16 years old, and has amassed diverse bookkeeping and accounts experience during her time with the Shepherd Partnership.

In her spare time Lyn enjoys walking her dog and all the challenges being a mum to her teenage son brings!

Katie Pannu | Chartered Accountant

Katie has been with the Shepherd Partnership since 2003. Today her role includes the preparation of limited company and general trader accounts and self-assessment tax returns.

In her spare time Katie enjoys reading, running, and cake decoration.

Sophie Rayner | Apprentice

Sophie has been with the firm since September 2010. She already holds AAT Level 2 and is currently working towards AAT Level 3.

Sophie works closely with Alison, providing admin support, and she also helps Mandy with reception duties from time to time.

Sophie spends her spare time reading, shopping, seeing her boyfriend and friends, drawing, and listening to music.

Sophie Renou | Part-qualified Accountant

Sophie holds the AAT (MAAT) qualification and is also a part-qualified Certified Accountant (ACCA).

Sophie started with the Shepherd Partnership as a ‘Girl Friday’, working on reception and general admin duties, and after a short time she began training for her AAT and then ACCA qualifications.

She has been with the Shepherd Partnership for more than 5 years now and today her main responsibilities include VAT returns, Limited Company accounts, and wages. Sophie spends her spare time walking her dog, swimming, shopping, going out, and revising!

Alison Spencer | Senior Administrator of Accounts Department & Reception Supervisor

Alison has worked at Shepherd Partnership since 2005. She brings to the role a vast amount of business and administration experience amassed over a number of years working as the owner/ manager of her own restaurant, plus a 3-year period with Lloyds Bank.

Today Alison’s role involves bank account administration, administration of debtors & suppliers, supervising reception and the overall administration/ accounts department, and debt recovery.

When not at work, Alison is busy looking after her young daughter. She’s looking forward to having ‘spare’ time again so that she can indulge in her hobbies which include theatre, opera, horse-riding, wind-surfing, acting, cooking/entertaining, dining out, shopping, painting/art.
