HMRC warns of Self Assessment scammers

HMRC has issued a warning about scammers, who are particularly targeting Self Assessment tax payers at this time of year.

Following the self assessment deadline, there has been an increased effort from scammers looking to dupe people with attractive rebate offers (to lure people in) or scaring people into thinking that money owed must be paid immediately over the phone.

Scammers can be very convincing; mimicking official messages to appear authentic.
