What to watch out for when taking on workers

Before taking on workers, you need to first check their status for tax purposes as some workers are employed and others are self-employed. Employment status can be difficult to determine but we are here to advise you. For more straight-forward cases, HM Revenue & Customs’ status indicator is a useful tool to help you decide whether your worker should be taxed as an employee.

HM Revenue & Customs has recently published a helpful step-by-step guide for employers about what they need to do before taking on staff “Get your business ready to employ staff: step by step” which provides lots of useful information. We are able to set up and run your payroll and deal with HMRC and your auto enrolment pension scheme on your behalf, but there are other considerations you need to think about, such as making your workplace safe and getting the necessary insurance.
