Tell us a bit about your career...

When I was younger I wanted to be an air stewardess but I realised I don’t actually like flying so that career was never going to take off! After finishing college, I secured a position as an accounts clerk and found I loved the work. Having always been ambitious, with a desire to keep learning and progressing, I studied alongside work to become ACCA and ATT qualified.

Do you enjoy what you do?

​

No day ever ends up as planned and no two days are the same…which is just the way I like it!  My role in the practice is really interesting and varied and I also feel very lucky to be able to interact with so many lovely people along the way.

 

How about life outside of work?

​

Much of my spare time is spent at our local sports centre where I enjoy exercise classes which I find very motivational. I am also a keen swimmer. I am married with 3 grown-up children (twins (a boy and a girl) and another son), and 2 grandchildren.

Do you have any advice for business owners?

​

My advice specifically for anyone with a start-up business is to plan ahead for your tax bill. The transition from employment (where tax is taken at source) to paying tax as a lump-sum often comes as a shock.
