A new round of Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants is now open, with £150 million available to support environmental improvements and sustainable food production on farms in England.

The three-year agreements are available to farmers and land managers, offering support for 78 capital items that deliver specific environmental benefits. These include measures to improve air and water quality, natural flood management, boundary restoration, educational access and environmental assessments. Four new items have been added in this round, including woodland condition assessments and wildfire management plans.

Funding limits apply to four of the six categories, with a cap of £25,000 each for water quality, air quality and natural flood management, and £35,000 for boundaries, trees and orchards. There are no limits for assessments or improvement items. Applications can include items across all six categories.

Eligible applicants must have full management control of the land for the duration of the agreement and must be located entirely within England. Landowners, tenants, landlords and licensors can all apply.

This round of the scheme will close to applications when the available funding is committed.
