Innovation is the successful development and introduction of new ideas which help your business to improve efficiency, reach new markets, increase revenue, develop new products, or achieve a competitive advantage.

This seminar is designed for established SMEs with ambitious growth plans that want to embrace innovation in developing new or improved products, processes or services. The seminar will help you grow your business through innovation by:

  • Exploring the benefits and opportunities that innovation can deliver to the business

  • Learning how to create an innovation culture within the business

  • Using examples from other SMEs and hearing from local businesses about their innovation journey

  • Helping you understand what local and national support is available

  • Helping you discover funding available for innovation

  • Connection you with innovation experts

You will hear from:

Helen Floyd, SparkFund Grants Manager - the SparkFund is an innovation support and grants programme that works with business owners and leaders in North Yorkshire to identify, define and deliver innovation and research projects that fit their individual needs, aspirations and plans. They help every step of the way, from shaping and framing the idea, applying for funding and to deliver the project.

Andy Taylor, Innovation UK EDGE (Yorkshire & Humber) - a publicly-funded service to empower innovative businesses to growth and achieve their goals. They will give you access to the resources to deliver, from investor networks to IP expertise and international partnerships.

Ben Sayer, Leyton - an international consulting firm working with the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership to provide help to innovating or high-energy-use firms to recover tax from HMRC. Leyton provides no win-no fee support to free up capital for expansion and innovation.

Attendees to the seminar will also have the opportunity for networking with the presenters afterwards to address any individual business matters.
