HMRC are now sending tax refund updates by text message

HMRC have begun using text messages to update taxpayers with progress of their claim for those who have requested a Self Assessment tax refund.

The text message will confirm that a tax refund is being processed and provide an estimated time for when the refund will be received.

Important: The message will not ask for any personal or financial information and will not include links to websites.
