How do I do the Companies House Verification for a Person with Significant Control?

Companies House has reminded business owners who have completed their identity verification as a director to check they have also completed the separate verification required for their role as a Person with Significant Control (PSC).

A PSC is someone who owns or controls a company, usually by holding more than 25% of the shares or voting rights. Companies House has highlighted that many business owners have completed the director verification but overlooked the separate requirement for their PSC role.

If you are both a director and a PSC, you must complete identity verification for both roles. Providing your personal code as a director does not automatically verify your PSC appointment.

To check your status:

  • Search for your company on the Companies House Register

  • Select the People tab.

  • Check the identity verification status for both your director and PSC appointments.

  • If you see a green tick next to both roles, no further action is needed.

If you're unsure whether you've completed all the required identity verification steps, please get in touch. We'll be happy to check your status and help ensure your company remains compliant.
