What are the changes to the Companies House sign in?

Companies House is changing the way people sign in to its online services.

From late August 2026, GOV.UK One Login will become the main way to sign in to the Companies House “Find and update company information” service.

What does this mean for you?

If you use Companies House yourself, for example to view or update your company details, you will eventually need to move to GOV.UK One Login.

You don't need to make the change immediately. Existing Companies House users can continue to use their current login details for now, and Companies House will provide further information before you are required to move across.

GOV.UK One Login is an individual account, using your own email address and an additional security check when you sign in. This means that, over time, businesses that have previously shared Companies House login details may need to change how they access the service.

If we deal with your Companies House filings on your behalf, there is nothing you need to do at this stage. We are aware of the changes and will make sure our own access arrangements are updated as required.

The move to GOV.UK One Login is separate from the new identity verification requirements being introduced for company directors and people with significant control. These are separate Companies House changes, which we will update you about as further details become available.
